From integrating BOOK IT! into your child’s school curriculum to developing a reading habit at home, there are many ways to raise readers.
Read and Do Activities
Lay the ground work for raising a reader by integrating the stories you read into other activities such as drawing, letter recognition, fine motor, matching, sorting, and sequencing to make it interactive and fun.
Develop an at-home reading routine with early readers by participating in the Give Me Twenty Reading Challenge. The Challenge is open to all preschoolers - it can be done individually or by classrooms - no restrictions.
The minutes read outside of school are what make the difference. Promise to read to or with your kids daily for at least 20 minutes to set the stage for them to read because they want to, not because they have to.
